Car of Missing Local Woman Found

first_imgEunice G. GassJackson County Sheriff, Chip Hall is confirming the vehicle that Eunice Gass was driving has been located. The vehicle was located during the late evening on October 22, 2016 by two ATV riders in the Cherokee National Forest near the Cherokee County, NC and Monroe County, TN border.  Ms. Gass has been missing since late August and search efforts have continued since then.  Searchers are continuing to search the area where the vehicle was located.  The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is joined in this investigation by the Cherokee County, NC and Monroe County, TN Sheriff’s Offices, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, and United States Forest Service.   Further details will be released when available by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.last_img

The people at Microsoft noticed something that I had seen, only peripherally — that there were applications of RSS that aren’t about news. Like Audible’s NY Times Best Seller list, or an iTunes music playlist, or lists of Sharepoint documents, or browser bookmarks. Florida Hype MisouriThe Gators are back in the Top 10.With the exception of Oklahoma, which was upset by rival Texas, the top 10 teams in college football’s AP Poll held serve this weekend. TCU, Michigan State, Alabama, and Utah were all tested, but all four endured. Ohio State moved to 6-0, while Clemson, Baylor and LSU rolled. The new AP Poll came out moments ago and there aren’t many surprises this week. As expected, Oklahoma is out of the Top 10, replaced by Florida. Following his team’s 10-8 loss to Louisville Wednesday afternoon, Ohio State baseball coach Bob Todd informed his team that he plans to retire after this season, according to news reports.“I think I’m ready,” Todd said through a press release. “I always said I wanted a career and not just a job. I think I found that. I still feel good and I love this game because it has been a very enjoyable and prominent part of my life and that of my family, but I have always felt I’d rather leave this game too early than too late.” Todd, 61, has been at the helm at OSU for 23 years and has guided the Buckeyes to eight Big Ten regular-season titles and eight conference tournament championships.Todd has won more than 1,000 games as a college coach during his time at Kent State and OSU. He was inducted into the Ohio State Varsity “O” Athletics Hall of Fame in Fall 2008. read more

Ohio State women’s track and field and cross country coach Karen Dennis, who was named director of track and field and cross country by the university June 17.Credit: Courtesy of OSU AthleticsAfter eight years as the coach of Ohio State’s women’s track and field and cross country teams, Karen Dennis has a new title.She was named the director of track and field and cross country by the university, according to a Tuesday press release. The position encompasses both the men’s and women’s programs.Dennis led the women’s track team to its first Big Ten championships for both indoor and outdoor competitions in 2011. She has coached 19 first team All-Americans, three Big Ten champions and she has twice coached a national champion. Dennis was also named conference Coach of the Year six times and one of her runners was named the Big Ten freshman of the year.“We are very excited to announce Karen as the director of our newly-combined programs,” said T.J. Shelton, associate athletics director for sport administration, in the release. “The men’s and women’s programs have outstanding tradition and combining the programs will not only bring stability, but provide opportunity to grow and strengthen both programs under Karen’s leadership.”In the release, Dennis said she is thankful for the opportunity and looks forward to continuing to grow the program.“Ten years ago I came to The Ohio State University as an assistant in a combined program,” she said. Since that time I continue to appreciate the support and confidence afforded me by administrators Gene Smith, Miechelle Willis and T.J. Shelton. I’d like to thank them all for this wonderful opportunity.”The details of Dennis’ new contract are still being finalized by the university, according to an OSU spokesman.During the 2013 to 2014 season, Dennis’ team garnered first team All-American honors in the 4×100-meter relay and produced a trio of Big Ten championships.Dennis has also spent time as an assistant coach for sprints and hurdles with the men’s and women’s programs. She was also the coach of the United States women’s national track and field team at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.She moved to OSU after a decade heading the women’s track and field team at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she experienced similar success to her time with the Buckeyes. Dennis also spent 15 years coaching at Michigan State, where she attended college.The Buckeyes concluded their 2014 season with a fifth-place finish in the 4×100-meter relay at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Championships June 14. read more
