These things happen.”You don’t do it on purpose, I think, and he said that. Everything’s fine. It’s football.”Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo said referee Craig Pawson made the correct decision in dismissing the 27-year-old.”It’s very close to me and I think it’s a red card,” he said. “It’s clear, you saw it. It’s a red card.”However, former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg told The Mail he thought the decision was harsh.“Boly was unfortunate to be sent off for his challenge on Bernardo,” he said.“You must first consider that the Wolves defender won the ball before catching the Manchester City midfielder. That does not mean it is not a red card, of course.“But Boly’s foot was low and he caught Silva on the ankle, not on the shin or higher.”Gabriel Jesus scored twice to help City to a win that leaves Pep Guardiola’s side four points behind leaders Liverpool.City travel to the Premier League’s bottom club Huddersfield on Sunday.last_img read more

Costa teamed up with Joao Felix to add his fourth six minutes into the second half before he was sent off after clashing with Dani Carvajal, which sparked a melee. 90′ | 3-7 | ¡Final en el @MetLifeStadium!Nuestro equipo se apuntó el derbi de Nueva Jersey con una espectacular goleada #AúpaAtleti #AtletiSummerTour #ICC2019 pic.twitter.com/yXYvVC9zT6— Atlético de Madrid (@Atleti) July 27, 2019Vitolo scored a sensational solo goal in the 70th minute after Nacho Fernandez reduced the deficit on the hour-mark, while Madrid substitute Karim Benzema converted an 85th-minute penalty and Javi Hernandez bundled the ball over the line late.Atletico were ruthless from the outset, last season’s runners-up breaking the deadlock after just 43 seconds when Joao Felix played a neat pass to Costa, whose deflected shot beat Thibaut Courtois. That was a sign of things to come as Joao Felix made it 2-0 less than seven minutes later – the former Benfica teenager stepping in front of Marcelo and side-footing from close range after Saul Niguez cut a pass back into the penalty area. After a lively Alvaro Morata left the field due to an apparent calf injury, his replacement Correa – linked to AC Milan – put Atletico 3-0 ahead in the 19th minute with a volley past Courtois. While Joao Felix and Costa continued to wreak havoc, Madrid’s woes were compounded by what appeared to be a knee injury to new signing Luka Jovic, who had to be substituted following a collision with Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak.Madrid’s defensive problems were highlighted again as Atletico went 4-0 ahead in the 28th minute – Saul winning the ball after a bad pass from Ramos and sliding in a simple pass for Costa and he made no mistake.Hermoso and Thomas Lemar also went close, while Vinicius Junior hit the post for Madrid. But Atletico netted their fourth on the stroke of half-time after Costa completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot following Isco’s foul. 46′ | 0-5 |  ¡Empieza la segunda parte en el @MetLifeStadium#AúpaAtleti #AtletiSummerTour #ICC2019 pic.twitter.com/a4DxLunwUI— Atlético de Madrid (@Atleti) July 27, 2019Atletico did not take their foot off the pedal in the second half – Felix and Costa continuing their frightening combination as the former split Madrid’s defence with a delightful pass and the former scooped the ball over Keylor Navas in the 51st minute.Eden Hazard was virtually non-existent in first half, but the Belgian star showed a flash of brilliance to help Madrid pull a goal back on the hour-mark, crossing the ball into the six-yard box for Nacho to bundle the ball over the line. There was a flashpoint five minutes later when Costa and Carvajal were both sent off after the pair and both teams came together as tempers threatened to boil over.It got worse for Madrid after Vitolo won the ball from two defenders on the half-way line and beat another two opponents before finding the back of the net following a stunning solo run with 20 minutes remaining.Atletico were hungry for more and they should have scored another two or three goals but some desperate goalkeeping and defending denied Los Rojiblancos, while Benzema and Hernandez added goals for Madrid late in the game. read morelast_img read more

Now he’ll have the chance to prove that he can play well at the next level, as the star defender will enter the 2019 NFL Draft.Bush had 66 tackles and 4.5 sacks in his junior season for the Wolverines. His ability to play from sideline to sideline is truly special for his age. While the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year is ready to join the NFL, he’ll never forget his time at Michigan. In a heartfelt message on Twitter, Bush expressed his gratitude for the university and the fans. The University of Michigan will always have a special place in my heart!! I will forever be a Michigan man til the death of me!! Thank you to everyone who supports me, be with me as we all take this journey to the next step!! Another thing, always and forever GO BLUE.— Devin Bush ll (@_Dbush11) December 19, 2018Although he’ll end his college career without a chance to win the national championship, Bush constantly found himself playing in big games for the Wolverines.Between his leadership and production on the field, Bush should be coveted by many professional scouts. In addition, he’ll have the chance to shine at the NFL Combine, which certainly benefits gifted athletes like himself.Congratulations to Bush on an excellent stint with the Wolverines.last_img read more

I-League: Fans will be deprived, says Real Kashmir coach on telecast row

first_img IANS December 27, 2018UPDATED: December 27, 2018 18:26 IST A traffic constable on duty at Gaur Chowk in Noida Extension (India Today File Photo)Kolkata, Dec 27 (IANS) Real Kashmir FC coach David Robertson on Thursday rued the lack of coverage after the revised I-League telecast schedule, saying fans in India would be deprived of high intensity football.I-League clubs are up in arms after the tournament’s official broadcaster Star Sports recently announced that it will cut the television coverage to just 31 of the 61 matches remaining in the season. While former champions Mohun Bagan are the only side who could see all of their matches shown on television, defending champions Minerva Punjab FC were the worst-hit, and newcomers Real Kashmir FC will be partially affected. The decision has invited widespread criticism and the Scottish coach of Real Kashmir said: “The football fans in India will be deprived of games. I am here for two years now and I think that is a special and an exciting league.”The Scot also said even as a 12-year-old boy in Scotland he knew about Mohun Bagan and East Bengal as he termed himself lucky to face the two clubs in the I-League.”East Bengal and Mohun Bagan are the two biggest clubs of India. As a 12-year-old boy in Scotland, I had heard about these two teams,” he said.”They have the biggest budgets. I’ve been with big clubs in Scotland too, and playing with big clubs brings a lot of pressure.”Debutants Kashmir have exceeded expectations this season, staying second after nine games and a point behind leaders Chennai City FC.Speaking about their performance so far, he said: “It’s been a good story for the club. To be where we are at the moment is really fantastic. There’s a lot of enthusiasm in the team. We are enjoying every bit of it.” “Playing in I-League puts Kashmir in the footballing map in India. Till now people only knew about Mehrajuddin Wadoo and Ishfaq Ahmed from Kashmir.advertisementLast year we won the second division with five Kashmiri players in our starting lineup. That shows how talented the local players are,” he added.–IANSdm/gau/ajb/bgThis is unedited, unformatted feed from the Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) wire.Get real-time alerts and all the news on your phone with the all-new India Today app. Download from Post your comment Do You Like This Story?
